Father’s Day gifts to launch the spring season

Giving spring clothes for Father’s Day is always a good idea, because it is a practical, personal & accessible gift with plenty of options to choose from. In addition, the date of this celebration in Spain and other European countries, which is March 19, practically coincides with the change of season: it’s time to prepare the closet for the new season.

Spring is a time of transition between winter and summer, so the most appropriate clothing for this period of the year will depend on the weather conditions where you live: keep this in mind when choosing your Father’s Day gift.  Even so, there are always a series of recommendations to follow to choose the type of clothing, footwear and accessories that inaugurate the spring season. Let’s take a look at them in this article.

Which type of clothing is more suitable to wear in spring

If you are looking for a Father’s Day gift based on cowboy, western, rockabilly or biker style clothing or footwear, at Corbeto’s you have plenty to choose from.

Just take a look at our online store at any time to check it out. And so that among the variety of items you have a guide on what may be the most appropriate to give as a gift this March 19, we recommend you follow these guidelines:

Clothing layers: Spring weather can easily change, so it’s important to wear clothing that allows you to adjust the level of warmth. Layering your clothes is a great way to achieve this, as it allows you to add or take off clothes as needed. An example? A denim or plaid shirt, worn open and on the outside, with a denim or biker shirt underneath.

Lighter or more intense colors: During spring, it is common to wear lighter or more vibrant colors, as well as some printings that are in tune with the season. At Corbeto’s you will find a wide variety of western shirts, also in colors and prints perfect for spring.

Clothes made of light fabrics: Spring is a season of mild weather, so you can opt for clothes made of light fabrics such as cotton, denim and others that are breathable.  These materials help keep you cool on warm days. Most of the garments you will find at Corbeto’s are made with this type of fabric.

Lightweight jackets or blazers: During these spring days and nights, western blazers, which are lighter than coats, protect you from the wind and low temperature without being overly warm. They provide a more casual look compared to the traditional blazer, so you can make the most of them.

Waterproof footwear: Spring in the northern hemisphere is usually the rainiest season of the year, and sometimes there are unexpected downpours. That is why it is important that the footwear worn during this time is waterproof and with non-slip soles, such as Blundstone boots, Red Wing boots, Biker boots, or Engineer boots.

In summary, for spring, it is recommended to wear lighter clothing, in paler or brighter colors than during the winter, as well as “layers of clothing” to adjust the temperature, without forgetting comfortable and waterproof footwear.

If you follow these tips for choosing your gift this Father’s Day, it will be easier for you to get it right. And to make things even easier for you, from March 12 to 19 at Corbeto’s we are offering you a 10% discount on all our boots, leather wallets and chain wallets, shirts and belts, all great classics as Father’s Day gifts.

How and when was the tradition of celebrating Father’s Day born?

This celebration that pays tribute to the father figure, takes place in different countries around the world on different dates. The idea of creating a special day to honor all fathers dates back to ancient Babylon, where it is believed that a festival in honor of God’s father, Marduk, was celebrated on the fourth Sunday of June.

However, the modern celebration of Father’s Day began in the U.S. in the early 20th century. The idea was proposed by Sonora Smart Dodd, a Washington female citizen who wanted to pay homage to her father, a Civil War veteran who had raised six children alone, as he was a widower, while single-handedly running his farm. Sonora suggested that her father’s birthday, June 19, become Father’s Day.

The first time this celebration took place was in Spokane, Washington, on June 19, 1910, and it quickly spread to the other US states. Finally, in 1972 President Richard Nixon officially established the third Sunday in June as Father’s Day in the USA. But the celebration extended with surprising speed to other countries around the world, with the same date (June 19) being chosen in Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica, Cuba, Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, Peru, Venezuela, Chile, Paraguay and Argentina.

However, in other countries Father’s Day is celebrated on different dates and with different traditions depending on the culture. In Spain, Father’s Day is celebrated every March 19, as well as in Italy, Portugal, Croatia, Bolivia and Honduras. On May 26, it is celebrated in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, while in Australia and New Zealand, the celebration takes place on September 4.

Wherever and whatever the date, what is clear is that for Father’s Day to be complete, you can’t miss the best possible gift: at Corbeto’s we hope we have made it easy for you to get the perfect gift for that special Father to pay tribute to.
