Get your feet ready for fall footwear

If you love boots, there isn’t a specific date in the calendar that sets out your rule to start wearing them: you do it the whole year. But there are many people that change their footwear depending on the weather and season, and the turning point is autumn. Because isn’t only about changing sandals with closed footwear: it’ s also about the feet.

High temperatures cause feet’ swelling, but when autumn arrives they slowly shrink, lessening the space they take inside the shoes and boots. Our skin can develop callus or dryness that once we cover our feet can get worse. Also the feared blisters and chafing may appear with closed footwear rubbing over the skin that has been uncovered for months.

The thing is that, the same way we take care of leather footwear and we notice it when doing so, all the more reason to take care of our feet: we will feel it even more. Let’s see how.

Get your feet ready for fall footwear

Perspirable socks: indispensable

One of the best ways to prepare our feet to start using closed footwear after summer is protecting them with socks that minimize any ache. Podiatrists also recommend alternate footwear styles depending on the temperature, specially on summer and autum’s beginning, protecting our feet with socks to adapt the use from an open shoe to a closed one.

But be aware that not all socks are equal. For example, if you are going to use them with your cowboy boots, work or biker boots, you must make sure they aren’t synthetic nor too short, because they could make heels slip and make it more difficult to get boots off. You can avoid that by using perspirable socks that can be found at Corbeto’s. You can wear them with all kinds of boots; are crew high, strong hold very comfortable and much more durable than the sport or dress socks.

Protecting feet against humidity is equally important:  we must ensure they always keep dry. If feet get humid because of the sweat or get wet by any other circumstance while wearing socks, we must change them. When humidity appears due to sweat, a specific product recommended by podiatrists may be used, considering that dampness contributes to bacteria and fungus proliferation, infections may appear.

To battle against the humidity that comes from the exterior,  in addition to using socks,  if you live in a rainy place it’s advisable choosing a waterproof footwear, as for example the iconic Blundstone ankle boots, that will also find at Corbeto’s.

Heel’s highness change

During summer it’s usual to wear flat footwear, like the classic sandals, and our feet also get used to it. However, the heel increases during autumn and winter: even the lowest heel cowboy boots aren’ less than 4 cms. high. This “highness change” may affect to sensitive feet, and sometimes plantar fasciitis ( feet’s lower inner part inflammation)  or metatarsalgia (metatarsus pain and inflammation) may happen.

Even then, let’s not panic: if you start alternating flat footwear with a heeled one, your feet will adapt sooner and better to highness change. And of course, if you use quality footwear, like all the one that wil find at Corbeto’s, risk of suffering pain on our feet will be much less.

Following with feet’s care, in addition to using some kind of  antiperspirant if they sweat in excess, is also important to often moisturize them, or even daily if they feel very dry. Fingernail’s cut also affects on feet’s good condition: it must be a straight cut to avoid nail’s digging.
