At the same time, in the United States a new concept of country work boot is being developed: the cowboy boot. At mid of 19th century the ranchers worn plain but tough boots, made for their comfort and safety. During 1860’s decade started to appear the first decorations over the leather, such as the “Texas Star”, fleur de lis, tulips, etc.
Entering in 20th century, betwen 40’s and 50’s decade, the boom of western movies created the idealized figure of the ranchers that brought along with it a cowboy boots evolution to make them more spectacular, with more elaborated and colorful decorations. Later on, between 70’s and 80’s western boots lived their peak by becoming an urban classic. In search of new options, that was the time when ankle cowboy boots were born as we nowadays know them.
